This may sound pretty stupid, but I have had clothes for my PM Samantha that was ordered over a year ago and I am just trying them on her now.
Right after last year's code, I was hospitalized. Then right after Easter, before I was even back on my feet, my mom went into the hospital. She was in for over a month and then we lost her last May. She was raising my niece and nephews so we had them with us over the summer. In the Fall, I took some college classes with my daughter and in December, I had to drop out because my husband was in a serious accident. All in all it wasn't the best of years.
I am happy to report that this year is looking better than last year and I have even found some time for my dolls and for hostboard.
I was also finally able to open the AG box of things I ordered during the code and my sweet Samantha is sitting on my lap as I write this. Life is good, except for one small problem:
I just tried on the outfits I bought her last year during the code and they don't fit. There is the School dress, the Middy Dress, the Tea Dress, and the Lawn Party outfit. The only one that fit was the Middy Dress and it is snug. I couldn't even get the Lawn Party outfit on. The sleeves were too tight for her arms.
Is AG quality control this bad or is it just that my doll is that much bigger? My new Nellie towers over Samantha and I can't imagine that they have made the arms that much smaller, have they? Do these particular outfits just run small?
I also have Samantha's Spring Party Dress and it fits fine. I was just considering ordering Samantha's Bathing Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, and her new Bicycling Outfit. Can anyone tell me if these outfits also run small?
Thanks!

the Josefina head has a longer neck. My dolls with that face mold are taller. In fact poor Ben is so much smaller then them it is shocking!
I'm sorry that you werent able to get to your outfits for awhile......

I'm so sorry to hear about everything that's happened to you! Hopefully your AG's are there to help cheer you up.
Don't worry, my Nellie is quite a bit taller than my Samantha, too, and I don't think it's just the neck! Nellie's torso is much longer and thinner than Samantha's. Also, Nellie's limbs are a bit thinner than Sam's.
I think that the Mattel-made dresses may be a bit smaller than the Pleasant Co-made ones. My school dress, middy dress, and tea dress fit just fine, but they were not purchased recently. The lawn party dress IS one of the snuggest dresses in Sam's wardrobe, especially in the arms. Unfortunately, I think that's just the way it's made.
You're right, the spring party dress is perfect! Plenty of room. I wish AG would make all the outfits to that size. That being said, the new bathing dress is small. It closes up, but Samantha cannot sit down in it. Nellie has since inherited it because it fits her so much better. The bridesmaid dress is small, too. But the new bicycling outfit is neither perfect nor bad. The pants have an elastic waist, so you should be able to get them on ok.
It's kind of a trial-and-error thing. Some batches of outfits are probably bigger (or smaller) than others. And each doll is slightly different in her chubbiness. If you simply cannot get a dress to close, CS might be willing to send you a new one to see if it works any better. It's worth a try.

The older dolls have chubbier cloth bodies so sometimes the newer clothes don't fit as well. It might be worth your while to call American Girl customer service and explain the situation to see what they have to say. They are usually quite wonderful about those kind of things, especially if it is a fault with their items.
Glad that your year is going better!
